To Makeup or To Not?

My name is Chayla Soden. I am a current Qkids teacher from the United States. I am passionate about my active studies of English Writing and Literature, Philosophy, and Religion. I am a freelance writer and teacher with Qkids and stay-at-home mom of my son, Brett. I have a male Rottweiler and a female German Shepherd, one rescue cat, and two prairie dogs.

Classes start 10 minutes earlier than they used to and November 3rd has already passed! I thought now would be a perfect time to talk about how some of us Qkids teachers get ready in 10 to 20 minutes! We’ll go over a few different methods in this blog: all-natural, freshly washed and moisturized, a full face of makeup, or a combination of any of these. At the end of this blog, I have attached all of the makeup and skincare products that I use. I have spent hundreds of dollars finding all the right products for me and maybe this will help you save that kind of money!

For a lot of teachers, we love to go natural. Do you blame us? Waking up at 5am to get our hair and makeup ready for work in 30 minutes is a lot to ask! I find myself not wanting to bother with makeup at all, let alone my hair! At least two days out of the workweek, I take this route. I always make sure to do a full face cleanse the night before.

Squeaky Clean

Then there are the days we just don’t want to go all out with makeup but still want to feel clean. We take our freshly washed and moisturized face and run with it. What if you didn’t wash your face the night before? Or you just feel pretty dang tired and need that quick face wash? I live in a humid climate – I wake up and feel oil all over my face a lot of the time! I have to wash my face and follow that up with two drops of my holy grail Sunday Riley U.F.O. to prevent any acne.

A Full Face

Most mornings, I prefer to work in a full face of makeup. I usually cleanse my face the night before and start patting foundation on with a beauty blender in the morning. There have been times I’ve been so hungry, I eat and teach with only foundation on! Following my foundation, I use a translucent setting powder that I apply with the beauty blender, a bronzer, a blush, and then highlighter. This completes my face and I can do all of this in less than 8 minutes. I prefer to use a pomade for my brows and to curl my lashes before putting mascara on. For my lips, I usually just put a gloss on. This is my everyday makeup routine. Some days, I spice things up a bit with an eyeshadow, maybe a liner, and put my favorite lipstick shade on.

Just Can’t Decide

Then there’s some of us teachers that just do a combination. I love to mix and blend my routines. Every morning is different for me so why not add even more diversity to my mornings through my makeup and skincare? I’ve been satisfied with just a little foundation on all morning or skipping my eyebrows altogether, or just leaving my face bare after my mask!

Just Be-You(tiful)!

I recommend that you do what makes you feel best in the mornings. If you’ve been having a rough week, just relax and let your face breathe too. If you’re wanting more out of the workweek, go ahead and spend the free time to let your beauty shine through the power of makeup. There is no right or wrong way to do any of this! As long as you feel good and are happy, you are doing it right.
