Nick celebrated his 2 years with Qkids at the end of July 2019 and today is sharing with us how one shouldn’t let age be a factor when applying to Qkids.
Nick Nebelsky is an author, illustrator, and publisher of children’s books and games at Intense Media (www.intensemedia.com). He has spent most of his career in the media arts but in his early years was able to work with children in various capacities. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Brockport in Brockport, NY. He’s married with three children, two dogs, and loves to travel. He is also learning to play the piano and the guitar and hopes to be able to write his own children’s songs.
My advice to anyone looking for a great, part-time job who enjoys teaching children, should not hesitate in joining Qkids. And if you’re in your middle 50s or older, don’t let that stop you either. I’ve been working with Qkids continuously since July 2017 and in those two years, racked up extra income totaling more than $26,000 while teaching over 2,600 classes to more than 7,000 students. That, my friends, should be enough incentive to work for the greatest online ESL company in China!
Once you start working with Qkids, the staff makes it easy for you to feel like you belong. You’re immediately assigned a coach who is there for you when you need help along the way. In the beginning, there’s a lot to learn, but there is a great staff that will help you as well as a dedicated army of teachers in various Facebook groups.
Qkids is well-known for their platform and every teacher has access to every lesson plan so if you ever feel like you’re not up to speed, just visit the tutorial section of the software. If you’re still not sure what to do next, feel free to sign up for the mentorship program. There you will be assigned a mentor (more seasoned teacher) who will help you with any questions you may have or concerns. I’ve been mentoring for about a year and I enjoy giving back and helping others; it’s a natural fit for me. Besides, I want Qkids to succeed and if I can impart my wisdom to new teachers, I’m here to help.
Throughout the year, the staff also run promotions for teachers to earn company swag and cash prizes. And the vibe amongst teachers is that while there are a lot of other ESL companies to choose from, the staff and the platform are one of, if not the best on the market today.
The money is great and the morale of the teachers is quite evident in the Facebook groups as everyone talks about how the Qkids staff measure up to other companies'. Qkids always lands on top. Sure the money is great, but there is so much more to this company than teaching.
Qkids makes it easy to feel like you belong. I’ve never felt discriminated against because of my age. In fact, oftentimes, different Qkids staff have approached me to participate in additional projects that have earned me additional income. I feel like if you have a great attitude not only about teaching but also for the company, you’ll get rewarded.
My advice for anyone who is on the fence about applying to Qkids and think your age could be an issue, it won’t be. Don’t let it stop you from applying to Qkids. I consider Qkids like a family now. I hope that I can continue to work with Qkids all the way up to retirement and possibly beyond if they’ll have me.

Preparing Your Teaching Background Hi Qkids teachers! Hope you are having a good week. Today Momo wants to share with you some helpful tips about how to set up your awesome teaching background. Many of you already have great props to attract students' attention; however, your teaching background is equally important since students see it for the entire class. A messy, unorganized background will not only distract students but also negatively impact your teacher rating. Your teaching style, outfit, lighting, and background all factor into your overall class rating. Below are some points you should pay attention to if you want to improve your teaching background: 1. The room lighting must be bright enough for students to see you clearly. You should try out different angles in your room and find the sweet spot . Do not point your camera toward the ceiling or light since it will be too bright for students to look at you. 2. The ideal class background
