Qkids Updates - TESOL/TEFL/CELTA Credentials

Hello Qkids teachers. We have an announcement for you this week regarding all your credentials. Have you followed the instructions found in the last few months of Qkids notifications and announcements? If not, read on!

All teachers are now expected to take responsibility for maintaining up-to-date and current teacher profile records from now on.

Currently, Qkids asks all teachers to go to the Account Center and fill in the following information under Teacher Profile: Full Legal Name, Country, City, and Time Zone. It would also be useful to include a current email address.

Also, all teachers should go to the Account Center under "Upload Materials" and select the drop-down options to report your TESOL/TEFL/CELTA credential status and to report your post-secondary (after high school) education status.

Neither of these steps is optional. They need to be completed.

FAQs Credential Status

  • What if I don’t have a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate but am enrolled or have a plan to get it?

For now, you need to report that your status is “other”. You should update it as soon as you can if applicable.

  • What if I don't have a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate but I have a state-issued teaching license? Do I have to get a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate?

Qkids has stated that any contractor who has a state-issued license can upload it under the TESOL/TEFL/CELTA drop-down. You must select "Other" and upload a file there.

The Ministry of Education has not announced its official regulations for TESOL/TEFL/CELTA and so Qkids is encouraging all teachers to proactively prepare for a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA national requirement. Qkids is not endorsing any TESOL/TEFL/CELTA option at this time. Qkids is requesting teachers to post all relevant credential information in anticipation of possible regulation updates this year.

  • What if I don’t have a degree and am not enrolled? What if I am working on a degree but can not provide an official degree yet?

Select  “Other”

Please note

company-wide information about teachers and their credential status and post-secondary degrees is relevant to show that qualified and trained individuals are contracted to work with Qkids. This information matters to families, the government and investors. We hope this blog is a helpful reminder to act soon and to maintain proper records as a teacher with one of the leading Chinese online English education companies.
