Top 5 Experiences Working For Qkids
“Some say love at first sight is the most beautiful thing in the world. We asked our teachers to share with us what's been the most beautiful or sweetest experience that made them fall in love with all our Qkiddoes?" Here is Heather's answer for you all to enjoy.
Meet Qkids Teacher Heather
Hello! My name is Heather and I am an online ESL teacher with Qkids. I am married and have 2 children ages 6 and 4. We love to be outside and we love to travel! I have been working for Qkids since April 2018, when I immediately fell in love with them. I have taught over 1200 classes with them so far! They are the best company out there and I am honored to be a part of their teaching community!
Well, I am not sure that I can share only one moment because there have been so many! Here are my top 5 experience with Qkids.
Experience 1 - Interviewing With Qkids
Let’s get started, shall we? Back in April 2018, I found Qkids through another teacher. I was already familiar with teaching English as a Second Language online but had not gotten a lot of experience with it yet. My first thought after looking over the Qkids site was that it was just too good to be true. I mean, can you really teach these cute little kiddos English and make that much money working from home in your pajamas...The answer is YES, by the way!
I immediately put in my application and I got a response from Qkids very quickly. I had my first interview with them and instantly fell in love. I consider that point to be my first sweetest experience with Qkids.
Experience 2 - Seeing Real Chinese Culture
In June 2018, I had the privilege of joining a pilot program that gave me some "fixed" students. I would see these kids 3 times a week. This allowed me a better glimpse into Chinese culture and the lives of those students. I was able to start building bonds with these amazing kids. It was very enlightening and humbling. I have been able to celebrate birthdays and other achievements with these children. This would be my next sweetest moment with Qkids.
Experience 3 - Flexible Work
Because Qkids is just so amazing, I was able to take a month off from teaching in November 2018 to travel to the United Kingdom. During my stay there, I was not able to teach and boy did I miss my students! It was a great struggle to leave them for that long. However, I spoke with the amazing Qkids staff and they were able to let the families know that I would be gone for a while, but I would be back! I had one little girl (one of my absolute favorite students) wait for me while I was gone! This experience left me in tears. The fact that she and her family trusted me enough to wait for me and resume classes with me when I came back, just took my breath away.
Experience 4 - Morning Smiles
These kids are amazing! The smiles, giggles, laughter, intelligence, and sweet comments amaze me every single day in every single class. Their love for learning the English language oozes with excitement sometimes. To see their sweet faces bright and early every morning is the sweetest experience in the world.
Experience 5 - Support In All Weather
One of the things I love most about Qkids is the staff. From that very first encounter with them, they have been nothing but caring, kind, and supportive. Anytime I have a question or concern I know I can reach out to them and gain a quick response. If that person doesn’t know the answer, they will find it for me! When I am sick, they care. When I have a concern, they listen.
I have shared with you only a few of the most amazing experiences that I have had with Qkids in the short one year that I have been with them. There are so many others that it would take a book to write them all! Qkids has given me a love for online teaching that I never knew existed.
If you are interested in making beautiful and sweet memories like these, having the most tremendous fun, sharing love and laughter with kids from across the world, or working from home in your pajamas, then please join me over at Qkids!

Preparing Your Teaching Background
Hi Qkids teachers!
Hope you are having a good week. Today Momo wants to share with you some helpful tips about how to set up your awesome teaching background. Many of you already have great props to attract students' attention; however, your teaching background is equally important since students see it for the entire class. A messy, unorganized background will not only distract students but also negatively impact your teacher rating. Your teaching style, outfit, lighting, and background all factor into your overall class rating.
Below are some points you should pay attention to if you want to improve your teaching background: 1. The room lighting must be bright enough for students to see you clearly. You should try out different angles in your room and find the sweet spot. Do not point your camera toward the ceiling or light since it will be too bright for students to look at you. 2. The ideal class background is you facing against a wall. It can …
