Life as a Qkids Teacher (Ft. Jodi)

Hello everyone! We have a new series beginning that focuses on what it's like to be a Qkids teacher! Below is all written by our very own Jodi. We hope you enjoy!

TEACHING WITH QKIDS
Our very own Jodi!

My name is Jodi Lewis, I’m a graphic designer and I live in Toronto Canada.

At the start of 2017 I was looking for a career opportunity that was enjoyable and could offer me the flexibility of working from home while going to school and still run my small business. During my search I came across an online ESL teaching position with Qkids. The flexible schedule and opportunity to impact children, was right on point for me. When I received an email stating they were interested in my application, I knew I had found something special. After a few days of preparation, comprehensive and friendly training from the hiring team, I started my journey as an Online ESL Teacher.

"My time with Qkids has been one of
the most rewarding and meaningful six
months of my career."

Every day I enjoy helping kids learn a new language and have fun doing it. The teaching software is impressive in that it is user friendly and unique. It sets the stage for the kind of interactive learning environment. I wish I had when I was a kid. The teaching platform which includes playing games, allows me to be creative and fosters an amazing learning experience for both the kids and myself. The kid’s expressions and gratitude bring me so much joy that I find myself smiling after each class.

The user friendly
and unique software
uses games to teach
English as a Second
Language.

My students bring me so
much joy with their
gratitude and priceless
expressions.

Qkids offers supportive training and mentorship
The staff at Qkids have been amazing, supportive and have always answered my questions and concerns with the utmost kindness
and promptness. I’ve had a steady schedule since I started with Qkids and have had the opportunity of teaching additional classes as well as taking time off when I need to. They offer a convenient pay structure as well as incredible performance and attendance incentives. My experience with Qkids has been so positive that I recently referred my sister who is now beginning her training. I hope to be remain with Qkids as they grow and expand creatively with the service they provide for years to come.

Qkids Teacher 101 - Preparing Your Teaching Background

Preparing Your Teaching Background Hi Qkids teachers!

Hope you are having a good week. Today Momo wants to share with you some helpful tips about how to set up your awesome teaching background.
Many of you already have great props to attract students' attention; however, your teaching background is equally important since students see it for the entire class. A messy, unorganized background will not only distract students but also negatively impact your teacher rating. Your teaching style, outfit, lighting, and background all factor into your overall class rating.

Below are some points you should pay attention to if you want to improve your teaching background: 1. The room lighting must be bright enough for students to see you clearly. You should try out different angles in your room and find the sweet spot. Do not point your camera toward the ceiling or light since it will be too bright for students to look at you.
2. The ideal class background is you facing against a wall. It can …
